What is VenaSeal?

It is the newest method used for the treatment of varicose veins and has been discovered to date. VenaSeal (cyanoacrylate) is the name given to the medical glue used to close and adhere the problematic vein with a physical intervention.

VenaSeal Glue, formerly known as "Sapheon Glue", is a safe, medical glue used to seal the common saphenous vein in the thigh. Once the vein is attached by gluing, a hardening process (referred to as Sclerosis) will occur and the body will gradually absorb this process. The procedure is a very safe and minimally invasive procedure (all surgical interventions performed with minimal damage to the patient's body integrity).

The VenaSeal Procedure involves injecting a very small amount of VenaSeal Medical Glue into the vein through a small catheter. After the affected vein closes, blood in the leg begins to move through other healthy veins. Unlike other treatments, VenaSeal does not require a Regional Nerve Block or large amounts of Anesthesia. Additionally, there are no pre-procedural medications and patients can return to normal activities immediately after treatment. Unlike heat-based procedures such as Endovenous Laser or Radiofrequency Ablation, there is no risk of skin burns or nerve damage with VenaSeal. VenaSeal does not require pain medications or compression stockings immediately after treatment.
