After Treatment

After treatment, side effects may occur. These effects are stated below.

Mild to moderate pain persists along the attached vein for 1-2 weeks.

Post VenaSeal discomfort should be managed with a combination of gentle walking and rest (with leg elevation) and anti-inflammatory medications such as Nurofen or Voltaren.

Phlebitis or inflammation may occur depending on the vein being treated along the thigh. This is again managed with anti-inflammatory and socks. If this happens, you should definitely consult your doctor.

Paresthesia (skin numbness) has been reported in some studies and is thought to be a result of inflammation that temporarily affects the nerves around the treated vessel.

What are the complications?

Even with the most perfect treatments, there is always a risk of complications. These possible complications are listed below.

Deep vein thrombosis. Internal vein clots are very rare after VenaSeal treatments. Pulmonary Embolus is also very rare.
